Volunteering with us

Volunteering is right at the heart of our work. Hundreds of people give their time freely to run events, speak about our work, help out in offices, lead school assemblies, get stories in the local media and much more.

We welcome volunteers all year round, whether you have just a few hours, days or even a whole year to spare.
Why get involved?
Volunteering is about you. If you want to use your skills or develop new ones, then Asdecumo may have a role that matches your needs perfectly.
You will meet new people who share your concerns, and who may stretch your own perceptions.
Volunteering for Asdecumo is also about the bigger picture.
You’ll do things that help people on the other side of the world. You’ll learn about the issues that affect their lives, and take action in a way that really makes a difference for people living in poverty.
So what can you do?
All sorts! Asdecumo offers a wide range of opportunities across the Maputo and Gaza in Mozambique.
You will receive training and learning local official language.

Office support volunteer
Do you want a behind-the-scenes view of the daily work of a global development agency? Looking to use or improve your administrative skills? Then help out at one of Asdecumo offices.

Volunteer teacher
If you like working with children and enjoy finding out about the world, volunteering as a Asdecumo teacher is a great way to spread the word on our work.
As a good communicator with experience of working with children, you’ll take assemblies, help with lessons and lead workshops in global awareness. We offer flexible volunteering opportunities, free education resources and occasional opportunities to meet overseas partners.

Campaigns volunteer
Asdecumo is about not just helping people who are poor, but also challenging the systems and structures that keep them poor. As a campaigns volunteer, you can play a key role in this, helping organise events to promote Asdecumo campaign messages.
Events volunteer
Could you spare some time over the summer to help promote Christian Aid’s work at a festival or other events?

Do you want to change the world just where you are? Are you inspired to encourage others in your own community to raise money, campaign and pray on behalf of the world’s poor?

Please note that although we welcome volunteers from overseas we are unable to help with travel to the Mozambique or with applications for visas and work permits.

PROJECTO ABRAÇO FOTOS

Desde Fevereiro deste ano que estão a correr as aulas com as crianças do centro de apoio a criança vulnerável do projecto Abraço, tendo no inicio as aulas começado três vezes por semana, as crianças com muito entusiasmo aprendem o ABC, e vimos a necessidade de aumentar as aulas de 3 para 5 dias por semana visto que o intervalo de 1 dia elas quase que esqueciam maior parte da matéria; Sendo assim realmente com o aumento dos dias elas começaram a ter um bom aproveitamento, é muito lindo ver o dia a dia de crianças que não podiam ir a escola e que ocupavam seus dias pedindo esmola ou em formas não positivas de brincar; Hoje elas sabem escrever pelo menos o seu nome, algumas já sabem ler um pequeno testo, graças ao seu entusiasmo, esforço e a grande disponibilidade dos vários voluntários da Asdecumo, e muito particularmente a colaboração dos voluntários internacionais (Tia Monic que veio da Holanda e ao Tio Eric que veio dos Estados Unidos) que com o seu empenho e dedicação ensinam o ABC.

“ Eu gosto muito de vir as aulas aqui na escolinha, porque agora eu já sei escrever, nos primeiros dias eu não gostava muito de vir, mãmã me obrigava e os Titios me vinham buscar, eu não tinha maneira de não vir, preferia ir na cidade pedir dinheiro, mas agora já ninguém me obriga porque eu vejo que estou á aprender a escrever e a fazer aquelas coisas bonitas que ensina Tio Tony com latas e cápsulas, …”
